Police were called out to Swanstree Avenue last night after a lamppost was "cut down".

It is unknown exactly what happened.

They received the call at 9.28pm on Wednesday.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 9.28pm on Wednesday to a report of a lamppost having been cut down in Swanstree Avenue, Sittingbourne.

"Kent Fire and Rescue Service was also called along with Kent County Council Highways.

"Officers searched the area for suspects however none were identified."

Enquiries are ongoing.
