KENT Police have released the name of a 26-year-old pedestrian who died following a collision with a van at the weekend in Marine Parade, Sheerness.
He was Carl Betmead who lived in the Sittingbourne area. The tragedy happened in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Mr Betmead and his partner for more than nine years, 25-year-old Rachel Webster, had three young children.
She said: “He was a wonderful father and will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. We are all devastated by his death and we will miss him terribly.”
A funeral service will be held at Bobbing crematorium in the near future. The time and date has not yet been confirmed.
A 23-year-old man from Minster, near Sheerness, has been was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was arrested at his home. He has been bailed to Sittingbourne police station pending further enquiries.
