An annual four-day music festival is to return to the county this summer.

Chickenstock, at Pett Farm in Stockbury, held its first boutique event in 2018.

This year's will be the fifth instalment of the popular countryside extravaganza following 2020's cancellation due to the pandemic, and event director Moya Taylor believes "it will be its best event so far."

The 50-year-old said: "We have 38 bands over four days and on two stages as well.

"Both stages won't be used at the same time either, so nobody will miss out by not being able to see someone.

"We also feel that the headliners we have this year are as good as we have ever seen, and that's one reason why we have sold more tickets at this point this year compared to last.

"The likes of Cut Capers and Holy Moly & the Crackers are two for example that are upbeat, fun and great to listen to.

"We also have Skippinish from Scotland and they are another act that will really add to an already terrific atmosphere, as will As December Falls who are a brilliant up-and-coming band.

"So there will be some excellent musicians for guests to watch in what is a really safe environment in a lovely location.

"The food stalls as well will have choice for everyone with burgers and pancakes, plus vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, with our drinks also local from Maidstone and Canterbury.

"The camping option too is also something we take pride in as it is also creates a great few days, especially given it has free hot showers."

With acts singing at least 114 songs so far, other artists will also include the Wilswood Buoys and Black Water County, plus late night sing-alongs with ales and ciders and a wide range of spirits and soft drinks also available for guests to enjoy.

Running from Thursday, July 27 until Sunday, July 30, visitors can attend the family-friendly gathering for one day or all four, with under 16s admitted free and dogs also welcome. Tickets for 16 and 17-year-olds are half price.

The Association of Festival Organisers says it will showcase a variety of music genres.

A statement on the website added: "Chickenstock Music Festival is a boutique music festival nestled in the Kent countryside that has a selection of folk, acoustic, rock, country, blues and roots music in a picturesque setting."

Tickets and camping passes are available to purchase on the festival's website at chickenstockfestival.co.uk.

There is glamping available, and people can also bring tents, motorhomes and caravans.

Tickets currently cost £99 for four days, £75 for two days, and a regular day ticket costs £25. But prices will rise from June 1 onwards.
