The parents of a missing man are still no closer to finding out his whereabouts.

Matthew Green was last seen going to his bedroom at the family home in Rock Road, Sittingbourne, at around 8pm on Thursday, April 8.

The 26-year-old had told his parents, Pauline and Jim, that he was going to stay with a friend for the weekend in Mile End, London, but when he did not return home his disappearance was reported to Kent police.

Posters have been put up in shop windows in Sittingbourne High Street and Folkestone as well as the male and female toilets at Gatwick airport.

Outgoing passengers at the London-based airport also offered to take posters to their holiday destination and put them up in hotel reception areas, local bars and restaurants in a bid to find Matthew.

Mrs Green said: "The police say his bank account hasn’t been touched and his passport hasn’t been used.

"They also claim to have checked CCTV at Sittingbourne train station from the Thursday he went missing to the Friday but there was nothing on there.

"We only found after we traipsed around Gatwick airport on Saturday that his passport hasn’t been used.

"It’s so frustrating not knowing where he is and I just keep thinking he’s lying in a ditch somewhere and nobody has found him."

The self-employed roofer left his mobile phone at home but is believed to have taken a holdall bag, his passport, driving licence and some money with him.

A Facebook group has been set up by friends called ‘Matthew Green - Sittingbourne - Missing Since 9th April - Anyone seen him?’

Matthew is white, with a shaved head, brown eyes and is of a slim build.

He has a tattoo with the word Matty and an Indian squaw underneath it on his upper left arm, and the England Three Lions on his upper right arm.
