Number 13 might be unlucky for some but not for young golfer Rhys Brown.

The nine-year-old, of College Road, Sittingbourne, finished in13th place when he battled it out against 44 other competitors in the Under 9s section of the US Kids' Golf European Championships.

During the three-day event in Scotland the youngster, who plays off a handicap of 21, recorded scores of 83, 81 and 84 totalling 248.

Rhys was the fifth best placed Britain in his age group which was won by French boy David Larvaron with a score of 228.
