Ryan Golding broke former Sittingbourne favourite Dave Arter’s 20-year-old goalscoring record last weekend – and he isn’t finished there.
Golding’s hat-trick in a 5-2 win over Three Bridges took his tally to 23 league goals for the season, one more than Arter’s return in 1992/93.
It also made him the outright top scorer in Ryman League Division 1 South, three ahead of Hythe captain Dave Cook.
Having broken Arter’s record, Golding, 21, has set his sights on clinching the league’s Golden Boot.
Golding (pictured) said: "My dad knew the record was coming up but he didn’t want to put pressure on me so he kept it quiet. I was only born in 1991 so I never saw Dave Arter play but I know he’s a massive name at the club.
"I’m aiming to be top scorer in the league. It would be unbelievable to do that. All I can do is keep playing as I have been and hopefully the chances will come."
