Pupils and teachers at Bredgar Primary School are celebrating a glowing Ofsted report.
Inspector Marcia Goodwin visited the school on January 31, its first inspection since February 2012, and it kept its “good” rating.
In her report, the inspector said: “You are developing a culture of very high expectations in all aspects and areas of the school.
“Working together with other leaders and governors, you have identified the right priorities for improvement and have effective actions and plans in place to achieve them.
“Outcomes at the end of the early years, in the Year 1 phonics screening check and at the end of Key Stage 1 are above those seen nationally.”
Pupils at the Bexon Lane school, part of the Unitas Collaboration, were described as “polite and friendly”.
The report stated: “Around the school and in classrooms, pupils display excellent learning and social behaviours.
“They care about each other and feel safe.”
Head teacher Madeleine Gower said the school was delighted with the result.
“In all areas of achievement, pupils are working at or above national standards, with the inspection praising children’s excellent attitudes to learning and the caring culture of our school,” she said.
