The parents of a missing Sittingbourne man are hoping a TV programme will reunite them with their son.

Pauline and Jim Green will appear on the programme Missing 2011 which runs from May 9 to 13, and will be aired on BBC1 at 9.15am every day.

Their story is one of five others about missing people to feature in the series produced by the London-based company Leopard Films.

The couple hopes it will lead to people coming forward with new information about the whereabouts of their son Matthew who was last seen at the family home, in Rock Road, at 8pm on Thursday, April 8, last year.

The self-employed builder, who was 26 at the time of his disappearance, told his parents he was going to stay with a friend in Mile End, London, for the weekend. When he didn’t return home he was reported missing to the police.

Film crews followed Jim and Pauline visiting Mile End and handing out leaflets in the hope someone may have seen their son.

Mrs Green, 57, said: "They [Leopard Films] contacted us and came out in the first week of February.

"At the moment we have done four filming days with them. We hope it will lead to some new leads especially with it going national."

Missing 2011 producer Peter Carlton said: "We chose Matthew’s case because we think we can help and partly because it’s the sort of story which will engage our viewers."

Matthew turned 27 on February 5. His cards and presents have been put in his bedroom along with his Christmas presents ready for when he returns home.

Mrs Green said: "We couldn’t have a celebration because he’s not here."
