Shane Byrne's 2010 World Superbikes campaign fizzled out at the final round in France, leaving the Sittingbourne racer unsure of where his future lies.

The two-time British Superbike champion, pictured, finished ninth and eighth at Magny-Cours to bring his championship points tally to 169 and leapfrog fellow Kent rider Leon Camier to 10th overall.

But after learning that his contract with Althea Racing Ducati was not going to be extended, Bryne was left wondering if he had done enough to catch the eye of another team.

“Obviously it is quite a difficult situation because by my own admission I have had a pretty disappointing year and it is kind of difficult to bust down team bosses' doors and say ‘give me a job I deserve a shot’,” he said.

“But I think pretty much everybody in the paddock that doesn’t have a ride at the moment is chasing the same three or four rides. I am not sure where I am in terms of pecking order, but hopefully somewhere close to the top.

“I would desperately love to get something sorted this weekend and be able to continue in World Superbikes next year, but if not I am sure there is something else to go and have a skid around in.

“I think there are three or four days before (winter) testing starts and some of the teams I am talking to are at that test so I shouldn’t have to wait that much longer."

World Superbike Championship races will be broadcast on Eurosport, with the European rounds also available in High Definition. Eurosport is on Sky 410 and Virgin Media 521. Eurosport HD is on Sky 412 and Virgin Media 522.
