Shane Byrne admits he must do better after another mid-position finish during the latest round of the World Superbike Championship.
The Sittingbourne rider picked up 11 points from the two races at the Miller Motorsport Park in America, with 11th and 10th place finishes.
Byrne said: "I had a good pace in both races. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a good start in race one and made a mistake in the second. I certainly could’ve done better.
"However, we have to look on the bright side. We were very effective in practice and constantly fast in race. We have to keep it up and be more competitive".
Byrne dropped places at the first corner in race one and found himself down in 14th. After just a few laps the race was interrupted with a red flag and the standings were decided by adding the timings of the second part of the race to the first. Byrne made his way up to seventh but the aggregate standings left him in eleventh.
The Ducati racer got a good start in race two but went wide after trying to overtake Leon Haslam, losing valuable time and contact with the front runners and he had to settle for tenth.
