Fire crews tackled a blaze on an industrial estate in Sittingbourne overnight.
The fire broke out at a Screwfix outlet on the Trinity estate in Mill Way at about 9.30pm.
The company confirmed this morning the store will remain shut while an investigation into the cause of the fire is carried out.
A spokesman said: "Our Sittingbourne store will remain closed while investigations take place following a fire at the site late on January 6 after it shut for the day. Fortunately, no staff or customers were harmed but there has been some damage to the premises.
“We will reopen as soon as possible and thank our customers for their patience while the store is closed."
A spokesman from Kent Fire and Rescue Service said the cause of the fire is being put down to an electrical fault within a piece of equipment within the building but because of the damage they are unable to identify exactly which part of the equipment it was.
Two fire engines were initially sent to the scene and were later joined by a third, along with police officers.
Witnesses told KentOnline the blaze was under control by 10.20pm with crews preparing to leave the scene.
They left just before midnight.
A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said they sent crews to the scene at 9.30pm to find smoke billowing from a warehouse roof.
Police were also sent to the estate to manage traffic in the area.
Customers who were planning to visit the Sittingbourne store today are advised to visit the Screwfix in Matilda Close on Gillingham Business Park instead or call the company on 03330 112 112.
