Sittingbourne manager Gary Abbott says his players are ready for a hectic second half of the season.

The Brickies still have 24 more league games to fit in before the end of their Ryman League Division 1 South campaign.

Abbott (pictured) said: "We are going to be playing two games a week now for most of the season. It’s going to be hectic but the lads are ready for it. They would rather play than have training sessions.

"If we get injuries that will make life difficult for us but we will just have to be as careful with them as we can.

"We will make sure Thursday training is just a light session to help them run the stiffness out of their legs from the Tuesday game but we will all be happy just to get back playing again."

That should happen tomorrow (Saturday) when Sittingbourne host Corinthian Casuals in what will be the Brickies’ first match since the
4-0 Boxing Day win over Chatham. Since then they have had seven postponed games including last Saturday’s trip to Burgess Hill.

Abbott added: "It will be hard for the players for the first 15 or 20 minutes and they will probably be blowing hard but they will be all right once they have got a game or two under their belts.

"We had won our last three games before the break and now we want to pick it up again.

The Brickies will then travel to Met Police on Tuesday.
