A man accused of committing a murder in the early hours of New Year's Day will stand trial later this year after denying the charge today.

Jurijs Popovs is alleged to have killed 21-year-old Dmitrijs Titovs, who suffered stab wounds outside a block of flats in Henley Place, London Road, Teynham, near Sittingbourne.

Popovs, of Henley Place, entered the plea despite the non-appearance of a Russian interpreter.

Judge Philip Statman was told at Maidstone Crown Court there would be a view of the scene on the second day of the trial, due to start on July 1.

Popovs, 47, was remanded in custody.
