Sittingbourne Memorial Hospital was forced to close this afternoon.

An unspecified incident in the minor injuries unit led to the police being called and the facility being "shut down" for two hours.

A hospital spokesman said: "The hospital had to close for two hours after an incident in the minor injuries unit which led to the police being called.

"The hospital has now been reopened and everyone is fine."

The police have been contacted for comment.
