A six-year-old author has been using Instagram to keep people entertained and motivated during lockdown, inspired by his mother.

Sarah Adenaike, from Sittingbourne, has been live-streaming interviews with doctors and leading figures on her page 'vision2mission2', while her son Joseph Odedele shares videos of science experiments and cooking.

Ms Adenaike, who usually works as a financial crime expert for banks, has even secured an interviewed with the first female president of Mauritius discussing life lessons and leadership. This will be streamed today at 5.30pm.

She started her Instagram page several years ago, and has more than 1,000 followers. However, she recently began posting material to help people cope with the pandemic.

When Joseph's school closed, he wanted to start his own Instagram page up too - inspired by his mum.

The Lorenden Prep School pupil, who also had a book published at the age of five - 'Joseph and his Three Friends' - has been sharing book reviews, yummy recipes and science experiments on his Instagram page, 'childrenpreneurs1'.

Speaking about her son's experience, Ms Adenaike said: "Joseph knows I have Instagram and said he wanted to make his own one. I thought it was a perfect opportunity to make him feel more confident and share his skills with other people.

"His school is really good - he is on Google Classroom from 8.30am to 3.30pm, with a break, and they do lots of creative things for art and science too. The school is actually encouraging pupils to do book reviews so we can't wait for them to see Joseph's page.

"I think it's good to encourage children to be the best version of themselves - I don't think any child should be limited."

Joseph says he prefers learning at home rather than at school because it means he can do more work. His favourite Instagram videos so far are the science demonstration because he wants to be a scientist when he grows up.

On the topic of her own Instagram page, Ms Adenaike added: "I'm in between jobs at the moment so I thought it was a good chance to provide information to change peoples lives. Everyone is struggling and there's always something bad on the news so I thought, what difference can I make, one that people can learn from?"
