A busy route is to close for two months as work continues on the multi-million pound Stockbury Roundabout project.
From next week National Highways will be closing Chestnut Street and the section of Maidstone Road that links Stockbury roundabout, south of Wormdale Hill in Sittingbourne.
A spokesman said: “This closure is to allow work on the new link to Oad Street and means there will be no access to the roundabout from Maidstone Road.”
The road is scheduled to be closed from Monday, April 24, until Monday, June 19.
Access for residents and businesses on Chestnut Street and Maidstone Road will be maintained via the Key Street roundabout, but there will be no access to the Stockbury roundabout from Maidstone Road.
Due to the closure, the Arriva 334 bus service will not be able to use Danaway or Chestnut Street.
Highways England has confirmed that It will instead operate on the A249 between the Stockbury Roundabout and Key Street.
The spokesman continued: “Kent County Council is offering free travel on its Kent Karrier community shopper bus service, for those residents affected, to ensure there is still accessible transport around the village.”

The closure comes just three months after the M2 coastbound entry and exit slip of the M2 at Junction 5 for Sittingbourne, Sheppey and Maidstone, reopened.
The revamp was given the green light in June 2021 to help traffic flow at one of the county's busiest roundabouts, with the flyover promised to cut queues on the congested A249.
