A supermarket targeted by yobs in a suspected burglary and ram raid attack has reopened.
The Co-op store in Teynham, Sittingbourne, closed on December 30 after suffering a break-in during the early hours.
A vehicle is believed to have reversed into the premises, with money allegedly stolen from the store.
Despite reopening more than 24 hours later, a spokesman for the company, whose shop is based in London Road, says temporary measures have now been put in place to combat the damage.
They explained: “We now have a temporary, wooden door in place after the original got damaged.
"It may take some time to be mended as it was custom-fitted.
"There were also some lights above the door which were broken too, so it's not going to be a quick fix."
A Kent Police spokesman added: “We are investigating a report of a burglary at a shop near Sittingbourne.
“Patrols were called to the business in London Road, Teynham after a vehicle was reversed into the premises at around 5am on Saturday.
“Patrols attended the scene a short time later where cash tills were found to have been stolen from the premises.”
The shop has since returned to its normal opening hours of 6am until 10pm from Monday to Sunday.
Drivers with dashcam and residents with private CCTV are also urged to check for any relevant footage.
Officers though are appealing to anyone with information, or who may have seen anything suspicious, to call 01795 419119, quoting 46/228353/23.
People can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
It’s not the first Co-op store to be targeted by ram-raiders.
In November, a vehicle deliberately reversed into the brand’s branch in The Row, New Ash Green.
Meanwhile, three men were jailed in November 2021 for a separate attack at a Co-op on the Isle of Grain.
Both shops were forced to close temporarily following the incident.
