The number of people living on the streets in Swale has increased dramatically since last year.
Between April and September, Kent charity Porchlight helped 12 people sleeping rough find emergency accommodation, compared to just two during the same period last year.
In total, it has provided assistance to 179 more people across the county – 379 compared to 200.
Porchlight works to get people off the streets and into accommodation and offers them support.
Many of the charity’s referrals come from concerned members of the public who call to report someone they’ve seen sleeping rough. Its helpline receives about 16 calls a day from around Kent about homelessness.
Porchlight says it is doing everything it can to tackle the problem but needs the public’s help to fund its services.
“Being on the streets can be deadly in the winter months,” said a spokesman.
“A donation, no matter what amount, can help us provide a lifeline for someone this Christmas.
"There’s no such thing as a quick fix, and it can often take more than a year before they feel ready to move on and begin living independently.”

Swale council has shared the organisation’s helpline, 0800 5677699, where people can report someone living on the streets.
A Swale council spokesman said: “During the cold weather, we are working to provide street sleepers with emergency accommodation. We can also offer advice and support to people who are homeless by calling the housing options team on 01795 417622.”
As well as this, staff from Specsavers in The Forum are doing their bit to help by running a clothes drive until Saturday, asking for warm winter items to be donated. They will then be distributed to those in need by Riverside, a charity that helps those at risk of becoming homeless and provides low-cost housing.
Staff are also planning a tombola and bake sale with proceeds going to the charity and New Leaf Support, which helps victims of domestic violence.
A store spokesman said: “It’s really important to our team to get involved in the local community, and we are proud to be supporting these two charities this winter. We hope people can get behind us by donating items that can be used by someone who needs it, or by coming to our tombola and bringing their spare change.”
