Police officers’ bravery and professionalism have been recognised at an awards ceremony.
The Chief Constable Awards were held in Maidstone last week and saw eight officers from Mid Kent commended for their achievements.
Among those recognised was area commander Chief Superintendent Alasdair Hope after he arrested a knife-wielding murderer.
PCSO Barry Chase was commended after he went into the water off Sheppey last September, despite the cold and choppy conditions, to rescue a woman.
Presenting him with his award Chief Constable Mike Fuller said: “The courageous actions of PCSO Chase undoubtedly saved the woman’s life. He acted in the finest traditions of Kent Police and he is to be congratulated.”
Three police officers involved in the hunt for the killers of Christopher Alaneme, who was stabbed to death in Sheerness in April 2006, were also commended.
They were PC Daniel Holdstock, PC Grant Butcher and PC Philip Nickels.
Ch Insp Tony Henley was rewarded for his work implementing Neighbourhood Policing across the force.
PC Preston Frost was praised for his work in finding a violent criminal wanted in Kent, Essex and London between November 2007 and April 2008.
