A care home ordered to improve by regulators has now received a ‘good’ rating.
The Care Quality Commission placed Hengist Field Care Centre in Borden under scrutiny after raising issues with its record-keeping in an inspection last July.
It said the home was not always effective in ensuring shortfalls in service delivery were identified and rectified.
But when inspectors returned last month, they found the practice had completed an “action plan” and upgraded its overall rating from ‘requires improvement’.
In their report, which has only just been published, they said: “Care was provided in a way that was considerate of peoples’ diversity.
"Care plans and assessments recorded information about people’s culture, religion, sexuality and gender.”
"People received dignified care and staff were respectful of their privacy,” they added.
"Staff supported people in a way that encouraged them to retain skills and independence.”
"People said they were cared for by a kind staff team who they got on well with.” - Inspectors
Inspectors said there were sufficient numbers of staff to safely meet residents’ needs.
“Staff had the right training for their roles.
They showed a good knowledge of people’s medical conditions and how to respond to needs associated with them,” they said.
“People said they were cared for by a kind staff team who they got on well with.”
Inspectors also noted a problem with updating residents’ records was being rectified.
Manager Neli Koleva said she was pleased with the outcome.
She added: “I’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to my dedicated staff, all of whom are caring and passionate in providing person-centred care to our residents.
"The care they provide not only meets the medical and care needs of our residents but also supports overall well-being and independence.”
