Sittingbourne FC joined professional and amateur clubs over the weekend in commemorating the 1914 Christmas Truce football match between British and German soldiers.
The players were photographed with Hythe Town before their game started at the local team’s Woodstock Park stadium on Saturday.
The image was uploaded to the team’s Twitter account with the hashtag #footballremembers and submitted to the website www.FootballRemembers.com where “Moment in History” pictures are being displayed.
It is almost 100 years since, on Christmas Day, soldiers in the First World War stopped fighting, exchanged gifts, sang carols and played football in no-man’s land.
The Premier League, Football Association and Football League have teamed up with the British Council for the Football Remembers project, which will continue until 2018.
