A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault after a teenage boy was struck down by a car and allegedly beaten by the driver.
Officers are investigating the incident which was reported in Bristol Close, Sittingbourne, at about 9pm yesterday.
The teenager is then said to have fled the scene with another boy.
Det Sgt John-Paul Foley said: “The child who was struck by the car got up and ran away accompanied by another boy.
“Officers have been making inquiries to identify and locate him without success at this stage.
“He did not appear to be seriously injured but we would be keen to hear from him or his parents to confirm that is the case.”
Police arrested a 46-year-old man on suspicion of assault.
He was taken into custody and later bailed to return to the station, pending further inquiries.
Officers are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has CCTV, or dashcam footage to call on 01795 419119, quoting crime reference 46/111658/24.
