A young cyclist is setting off on the adventure of a lifetime today (Friday).
While most people will be celebrating the royal wedding 15-year-old Jacob Kennison will be starting a four-day sponsored bike ride from London to Paris.
Dad Robert and his friend Robert Philbrook, from Yorkshire, will accompany Jacob on his 450km journey taking it in turns riding alongside him and driving a motorhome which they will all stay in during overnight stops.
The Year 11 Borden Grammar School pupil has arranged the ride himself to raise the £4,000 he needs to take part in a World Challenge event to help rebuild a primary school in Tanzania and climb Mount Kilimanjaro.
He has already raised £1,500 towards the trip which has been arranged by his school and takes place in July next year.
The youngster, a member of Medway Velo cycling club, is writing a blog during the challenge.
Jacob, of Pintail Drive, Iwade, said: "I’ve never done anything like this before. I’m pretty confident I’ll do it. My mum Julie is a bit worried but I won’t be on my own as I’ll have my dad and his friend."
