A TEENAGER from Sittingbourne has been charged with the rape of a 19-year-old Medway woman.

The offence is alleged to have occurred in a public place in Sittingbourne at 1.30am Sunday.

The alleged offender, also 19, has not been named by police for fear of reprisals against him.

He was bailed to appear before town magistrates on September 2.
