Supermarket giant Tesco is considering opening a store in the Forum Shopping Centre, Sittingbourne.

In July, the company denied rumours that it was aiming to move in to the former Somerfield premises, which closed in August.

At the time a spokesman for the company said it planned to advertise the lease and find a new tenant.

But Tesco has now revealed it is considering setting up shop there.

A spokesman said: "We are committed to having a presence in the Sittingbourne area and giving customers a choice. We will look at it in the future and have discussions with Swale council if appropriate."
