A mum has thanked those who rushed to the aid of her son after he was knocked down by a car.
Jack Rogers suffered a broken left leg after he was hit by a 4x4 in Ufton Lane, Sittingbourne.
The Minterne Junior School pupil was walking home with his twin sister Emily, 10, when the accident happened at 3.50pm on Friday, September 9.
Emily used her mobile phone to call their mum Donna and let her know what had happened.
When the mum-of-four arrived at the scene two motorcyclists had already stopped the traffic and were diverting drivers along West Ridge.
Mrs Rogers, 38, said: "Jack was in the middle of the road when I got there. He was conscious. The first thing he said was ‘can I still do my 11-plus?’ Then he said his leg was stinging.
"His trousers were ripped and he had a lump the size of a grapefruit on his leg. Mr and Mrs Thorne, who lived in the road, brought out blankets and waited with us until the ambulance arrived.
"I’d just like to say a big thank you to everybody that helped.
"He was lucky to come away with just a broken leg.
"Unfortunately he crossed the road, he’s not seen the car and she’s not seen him. It was just an accident. The police aren’t taking it any further.
"I’ve been in touch with the woman to let her know how he’s getting on."
Jack was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham, where an x-ray revealed he had broken his tibia and fibula.
He underwent surgery the next day and returned to the family home in Unity Street, Sittingbourne, on Tuesday, September 13.
Despite being told to rest, he was allowed into school to sit the 11-plus.
Jack now hopes to speak to younger pupils at the school about road safety during an assembly in December.
He said: "I just want to raise awareness so it doesn’t happen to anyone else."
