Neighbours have sent cards of thanks to a campaigner who refused to pay part of his council tax bill in a protest over the state of Kent’s roads.
Roads near Dobbie Close, Sittingbourne, were repaired shortly after Paul Dunford put pressure on KCC to resurface them.
The 42-year-old cancelled his direct debit and sent a letter explaining he would only pay the portion that goes to Swale council and the emergency services.
Within three weeks the repairs were carried out.
Mr Dunford has since sent two cheques for £126 each to clear the payments he missed.
