A young family say they are afraid to leave their house after thieves “turned it upside down” and stole some of their Christmas presents.

Nicole Davis and her three children Lucy, nine, Ella, seven, and Harry, three, returned from work and school to find their home in Walsby Drive, Kemsley, had been broken in to.

They came across a scene of destruction with presents unwrapped, and valuable items missing.

Nicole, 27, said: “They’d turned the whole place upside down, they’d even got the orange juice out of my fridge and poured it on my sofa.

“They’d gone through the bedrooms too, and now my little girl won’t got to sleep she’s so scared.”

“They’d obviously got in the front as there was a mark, and had tried the back, but we’d double locked that door. We don’t want to leave the house now, and we’re constantly on edge”

Wedding and engagement rings from a previous marriage, which Ms Davis was saving for her children, were taken along with a new Xbox One S, games, cufflinks, a gym bag and some aftershave.

She added: “They’d obviously got in the front as there was a mark, and had tried the back, but we’d double locked that door.

“We don’t want to leave the house now, and we’re constantly on edge.”

They have since managed to replace some of the stolen items and were helped out by Nurse Plus in Maidstone, where Nicole works as a care assessor.

She said: “My boss took me into the office and told me to sit down, and then gave me some Love to Shop vouchers.

“I wasn’t expecting it at all, all I’d done was ring in and told them I wouldn’t be in the next day when it happened.”

She was presented with £1,000 of coupons to help ease the stress over Christmas.

Since the break-in, which happened between 8.15am and 5.45pm on December 14, the family have invested in motion sensitive CCTV units, which can monitored remotely from a mobile phone.

Police are investigating.
