Drivers are facing long delays on the M2 this afternoon after four cars were involved in a serious crash in Kent.

The pile-up took place on the coastbound carriageway at 11.50am between junctions 4 (Gillingham) and 5 (Sittingbourne).

Two lanes have been closed with Highways England warning motorists they face a 30 minute delay on journeys. Police and ambulance are at the scene.

Normal conditions are expected to resume at 2pm.

Congestion is already high with extra traffic heading towards the Kent Garden Show at the Kent Showground in Detling.
