Teamwork has been key to the success of a primary school which is celebrating an outstanding rating from Ofsted.
Inspectors from the education watchdog visited Bobbing Village School from May 9 to 11.
Their resulting report was published on Wednesday and it received top marks in all five areas tested: effectiveness of leadership and management, quality of teaching, learning and assessment, personal development, behaviour and welfare, outcomes for pupils and early years provisions.
The Sheppey Way school’s principal Lois Hudson and executive principal Katrina Ware were ecstatic about the rating – the first time Bobbing has been ranked outstanding across the board. In a joint statement they said: “We are delighted with our Ofsted result which recognises that leaders, staff, pupils, governors and parents have all played their part in driving the school to this amazing accolade.
“The fabulous teamwork here demonstrates our motto: Together Everyone Achieves More.
“What a great way to end our school year. We are so proud to be part of this fantastic school.”
Inspectors highlighted the effective leadership at the school, the children’s positivity and a consistently high quality of teaching.
The report stated: “The inspirational executive principal, ably assisted by the principal, has created a harmonious, happy community where everyone is valued and respected.
“Their excellent leadership has ensured that Bobbing has developed into an outstanding school.
“Leaders’ passion for learning and high aspirations are woven through the work of the school, ensuring that everyone at Bobbing has the highest expectations for what pupils can achieve. As a result, pupils are thriving.”
The report drew attention to the quality of teaching, stating: “Teachers and pupils at Bobbing sparkle with enthusiasm when they talk about learning.
“Teachers are highly effective in capturing pupils’ interest and curiosity. They plan interesting, exciting lessons which build skilfully on pupils’ previous learning. As a result, pupils are highly motivated, committed to their learning and make exceptional progress.”
Inspectors also praised the pupils for their exemplary behaviour in class and around the school.
“Pupils are kind, courteous and respectful of one another and their teachers,” it added.
Bobbing, which has 213 pupils, is one of two schools in the Timu Academy Trust, formed in June 2014 with Iwade School.
This is the first inspection since the school became an academy. It was previously rated as a good school.
