Funeral details have been announced for composer and pianist John McCabe.
The 75-year-old, from Sittingbourne, died at the Wisdom Hospice in Rochester, on February 13 after a two-year battle against brain cancer.
A service will take place tomorrow at 3pm, at the Garden of England Crematorium, Sheppey Way, Bobbing, followed by a reception at the Coniston Hotel, 70 London Road, Sittingbourne.
Anyone who knew Mr McCabe is welcome to attend.
Monica, his wife of 40 years, has requested no flowers but donations may be made to Brain Tumour Research via the undertakers, R High and Sons, 1 Bayford Road, Sittingbourne.
Liverpool-born Mr McCabe, who was deaf in his right ear after contracting meningitis, composed more than 250 pieces during his lifetime, some of them two hours long.
One of them, Joybox, he wrote during six weeks of intensive chemotherapy and radiotherapy to manage an inoperable and incurable brain tumour.
He had just started working on the BBC commission when he was diagnosed in December 2012.
Much of it was composed early in the morning when he could not sleep due to the drugs he was taking. It played to a full house at a BBC Proms concert at the Royal Albert Hall in 2013.
Last May he was presented with The Ivors classical music award at Grosvenor House Hotel.
Mrs McCabe said: “He was devoted to the art of music, which ranked higher with him than any personal success.
“He showed no jealousy or malice at the good fortunes of colleagues and peers, delighting in the success of their musicianship, and, if possible, furthering their interests by performing their works.”
