A timelapse video has shown the progress of a multi-million-pound logistics park which will bring more than 1,000 jobs to Kent.
Construction on the first stage of the 644,549 sq ft Panattoni site in Kemsley, near Sittingbourne, is less than three months away from being finished.
The firm acquired the land at the end of 2023 from Abrdn, a UK-based global investment company, and contractor Winvic started work on the construction.
It is going to be the new home of a net zero carbon logistics park, which Panattoni says will be the county’s largest speculative property development in more than a decade.
Phase one includes two units which are 439,228 sq ft and 205,320 sq ft. Both are scheduled for completion by the end of March.
When built and occupied, the site will create an estimated 1,069 new jobs in Swale.
It follows the success of the nearby Panattoni Park in Aylesford, which has units filled by DHL, Fowler Welch, Marley and Evri.
The Sittingbourne site will use the latest sustainability measures, including roof-mounted solar panels, which will generate around a fifth of the energy required.
Electric vehicle charging points are also set to be installed.
Each building will be targeting net zero carbon status with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of A.
In May, Panattoni announced it would be increasing its investment into the project by £20 million.
It is now spending £170 million after acquiring an additional 10 acres.
The next phase of the project is currently the subject of a planning application being considered by Swale council.
This will create a 58,000 sq ft high-quality logistics and distribution building, which was snapped up by DPD in October.
The park is strategically positioned between London and Dover, four miles north of junction 5 of the M2.
