Traffic chaos has followed an accident at Stockbury Roundabout, Sittingbourne.

The accident happened at lunchtime on Wednesday when a lorry driver was seriously injured as his articulated truck overturned onto the Sittingbourne-bound central reservation of the A249.

Sittingbourne firefighters had to cut the driver from his cab.

Police patrol officers kept one lane of the A249 open in both directions, but motorists were caught up in tailbacks while the trailer load of baled newsprint was unloaded.

The road is not expected to be cleared until 8pm.
