There are still delays of 45 minutes on the M2 even though all lanes have now opened following an earlier accident.
Vehicles were held while emergency services worked on the London-bound carriageway just before Junction 5, the turn-off for the A249 for Sittingbourne and the Stockbury Roundabout.
At one stage queues were six miles long. National Highways says at least two vehicles were involved and the queue stretched back to Junction 6 for Faversham, but the situation is now easing.
A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “We were called at approximately 9am this morning to reports of a crash on the M2 between Junctions 6 and 5.
“Crews arrived and assessed and treated one person at the scene before taking them to Medway Maritime Hospital for further treatment.”
As of 11.07, all lanes had reopened but long delays remained, with six miles of congestion and waits of between 45 minutes to an hour.
More as we have it.
