Trick or Treat

A crackdown on anti-social behaviour over the
Halloween period in Sittingbourne has begun.

Kent Police, Swale council and Kent County Council have joined
forces with housing associations in the area to provide extra
patrols in a bid to stamp out any anti-social behaviour.

The patrols will also act as a contact point for the public
should they need any help or information.

In addition, the Swale Community Safety Partnership initiative
has involved working with retailers to prevent the sale of eggs and
flour to under-16s.

Shopkeepers can obtain No Eggs or Flour posters from their local PCSOs, street and community wardens, and Swalesafe representatives, or download them from www.swalecsp.co.uk

While the initiative aims to nip any problems in the bud, the
partnership wants youngsters to have fun over Halloween, albeit
responsibly, and is taking its decorated Halloween Machine to
various locations across Sittingbourne, with staff handing out
sweets and other goodies to trick or treaters.

PCSO Rachael Spencer, from the Sittingbourne Neighbourhood Team,
said: "This event has been a great success in previous years.

"In addition to all the positive feedback we get from residents
and parents, our attendance does encourage trick or treaters to act
responsibly.

"In addition to this vehicle, we will have dedicated†police
officers on foot and on cycles†in all†areas across Swale to ensure
that the event is both enjoyable and safe for all."

'No Trick or Treat' door signs can be obtained from shops,

supermarkets, police stations and council offices across the

borough or downloaded at www.swalecsp.co.uk

5pm Eden Village at the lay-by opposite Rose Walk park.

5.45pm Cavell Way moving onto the shop area at Gadby Road.

6.30pm Orchard Drive and Playstool Road, Newington.
