Three Sittingbourne women are taking their fundraising efforts to a new high.

Sophie La-Haye, from Cherryfields, and her friends Jaime Emmett and Paige Dennis, both 20, are taking part in a charity skydive at Headcorn Aerodrome on Wednesday.

It will be a 12,000ft tandem leap of faith for Sophie, 20, who admits she’s always preferred to keep her feet firmly on the ground.

She said: “This is something which is completely new to us, but something we always wanted to do.

“I’m not someone who has a particular head for heights, but it won’t stop me doing the jump.

“Friends have told me it’s not something they ever thought I would do, but I’m really excited and I just want to get it done.”

Sophie will be raising money for Demelza Hospice Care For Children where she works as a HR apprentice.

Jaime is also collecting for the Bobbing-based children’s charity, while Paige Dennis will be doing her bit for The Silver Line, a 24-hour confidential phone service for older people.

Between them, they hope to raise about £1,500, a target they are already well on their way to achieving.

Sophie said: “Two of my cousins and a friend have done parachute jumps in the past year and they absolutely loved it.

“I can’t wait to experience it for myself.”
