The search for Matthew Green is due to feature on a national television programme tonight.
Missing Without A Trace will air on ITV at 9pm.
The then 26-year-old was last seen at the family home in Rock Road, Sittingbourne, at 8pm on April 8, 2010.
He told his parents Jim and Pauline he was going to stay with a friend in London for the weekend. When he didn’t return home, his disappearance was reported to police.
The Greens were contacted by the charity Missing People to ask if they wanted to take part in the show which is hosted by Natasha Kaplinsky and involves a former police detective who is given access to Matthew’s bedroom.
Viewers will see him searching through scraps of paper on which the self-employed roofer had written some notes, including details of a recruitment company in Australia which find apprentices for builders.
The presenter and camera crew visited the couple’s home in August to carry out a series of interviews.
During the week-long schedule, filming also took place at Rectory Road, Sittingbourne, where Matthew played football.
Mr and Mrs Green hope the show will trigger new leads on their beloved son’s whereabouts.
Earlier this year, in June, Matthew was reportedly spotted on two occasions in an Auckland shopping centre.
The sightings were made by Sittingbourne expats living in New Zealand, but neither led to a positive identification.
