The name’s Spencer, Phil Spencer.
The TV presenter was in town last week filming for his Channel 4 programme Secret Agent.
As part of his mission to get offers on houses that haven’t been selling, he held an open house at three different properties.
One was a two-bedroom terraced cottage in Tunstall Road, Tunstall, the second was a two-bedroom house in Borden Lane, Borden, and the third was a two bedroom Victorian mid-terrace in Harold Road, Sittingbourne.
The News Extra only found out he was in the area after people on Twitter said they had seen him around the town.
He confirmed it was him moments before his production company Raise the Roof took out an advert out in last week’s paper inviting people to view the houses last Wednesday and Thursday.
Hasmita Reardon, property investor and owner of Sittingbourne-based Reardon Properties, was one of those who went along to look at the properties to see if she would be interested in buying any of them with a view to renting them out.
The 49-year-old married mum of three, of Woodstock Road, said: "Harold Road needed updating. The bathroom and kitchen were clean but it needed a lick of paint and laminate flooring put down to bring it up to date.
"The Borden Lane one had a spiral staircase and because of the high standards set [for renting out properties] I felt that would have to come out.
"The Tunstall Road property was lovely but it wasn’t one I’d buy and rent out. There was also parking issues. I’ve been in property for 15 years now.
"Perhaps I expect a lot more out of a property myself but things have changed and people expect more too and parking is an issue for many.
"They’d have had to be real bargains for me to buy them."
When asked what Mr Spencer was like, she replied: "He was very nice, he made us feel very comfortable. He was very down to earth."
No one was available from the production company to confirm when the show will air at the time of going to press.
However, it is believed the Sittingbourne houses will appear on the show over two episodes in the next few weeks.
