A magical Britain’s Got Talent star has wowed youngsters at Demelza Hospice Care for Children.

Magician Richard Jones, who won the ITV contest in 2016, visited children and their families at the centre in Rook Lane, Bobbing, on Thursday.

Lance Corporal Jones, who served with the band of the Parachute Regiment, then the band of the Household Calvary, enchanted children with an afternoon filled with magical illusions, mystery and fun - even sharing some of his secrets.

While there, he met seven-year-old Hallie who suffers from osteopetrosis, a genetic illness which causes bone fractures and sight loss.

Her mum Megan said: “To take her somewhere where the care team know exactly what they are doing means we can relax.”

Care services lead at Demelza, Helen Rolls, said they were pleased to see him: “We were delighted to welcome Richard to one of our specialist children’s hospices. The impact of our work is all about removing fear, providing rest and bringing smiles to the faces of children with terminal conditions and their loved ones.

“What better way to do this, than with some fantastic magic for all to enjoy?”

He visited the centre as an ambassador for Together for Short Lives, a charity which cares for children with serious and life-limiting conditions.
