Meanwhile, a 49-year-old woman will also appear in court after being reported for failing to have insurance.

South East Coast Ambulance Service were called to the accident following a report that several people had sustained injuries.

They are not considered to be serious.

A van and another car were also involved in the collision with the oil tanker.

Police initially reported eight vehicles were involved.

One lane was closed and traffic was described as "stop-start".

Officers attended the scene as well as firefighters from Kent Fire and Rescue Service, who laid out compressed air foam covering over the carriageway in case any fuel had spilt onto the road.

Crews also assisted police to help make the scene safe.

Everyone involved had got out of their vehicles on arrival and one woman was passed into the care of ambulance crews.

All lanes have since reopened and traffic has returned to normal.
