A dog has become an internet star after thousands of people watched footage revealing her delightful devotion to owner Terry Davis.
Last year, the 68-year-old grandad from Stockbury went on holiday to the Greek island of Crete with partner Anita Calder.
While away, they were for the first time able to access CCTV images from cameras that surround their property.
VIDEO: Molly stars in this tear-jerker made by owner Terry Davis
To their surprise, Molly, their Staffie-whippet cross, who they rescued from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in 2010, was seen sitting at the gate every day awaiting their return.
“It was quite upsetting,” Terry said.
“We did have a professional dog minder who is a family friend to stay while we weren’t there.
“We would never put her in a kennels because it would be like putting her back in Battersea.”
He added: “She’s very lively and absolutely fantastic with children and people in general. I worked from home for many years and she’s always around.”
Father-of-two Terry, who admitted to being a bit of a softie when it came to Molly, decided to make a video of her lovable antics.
The heart-rending footage shows her waiting patiently at the gate each day and how she excitedly greets them when they return from their seven days away.
He shared it on Facebook, sending the number of views through the roof.
"I was amazed when it went to 10,000. Then it went up to 100,000 and now it’s creeping up to 200,000. It’s just gone crazy" - Terry Davis
“I was amazed when it went to 10,000,” Terry said.
“Then it went up to 100,000 and now it’s creeping up to 200,000. It’s just gone crazy.
“We’ve had loads of positive feedback. For a lot of people, it makes them cry.”
Terry, who sold his internet-based business selling woodworking machinery in May, said Molly, who is now seven, was blissfully unaware of her new-found fame.
“I am now retired and enjoying long walks with Molly. At a minimum she gets two-and-a-half miles each day and can be up to 10 miles depending where we are or if I get lost.”
