Woman struck by car on pedestrian crossing

A 53-year-old woman was taken to hospital after being struck by a car on a pedestrian crossing.

PC Steve Dunnett and PC Ashley Curtis were the first on the scene of the incident in London Road, Sittingbourne, at around 7am on Wednesday.

They discovered that a green Daewoo Lanos SX had been in collision with the woman who was taken to Gillingham's Medway Maritime Hospital by ambulance for treatment for injuries to an arm.

Police spokeswoman Sally Smith said: "Her injuries are not thought to be life threatening."

She added: "The male driver of the car was reported to appear at Sittingbourne magistrates' court for careless driving."
