Police are appealing for dashcam footage after a stone was thrown from a bridge over the M2 at Borden near Sittingbourne and hit a motorhome.
The incident happened near Oad Street at junction 5, the turn-off for Sittingbourne, Sheppey and Maidstone.
The driver, who was unharmed, told police she saw three boys on the bridge before the incident at 4.30pm yesterday (Monday) (Jan 24. The stone hit the roof of her motorhome before bouncing onto the windscreen.
A police spokeswoman said: "The vehicle remained driveable and she reached a place of safety before calling the police."
Chief Inspector Joel Mitchell, District Commander for Swale, said: ‘It is fortunate that no one was seriously injured in the incident. This behaviour is thoughtless and reckless. We will not hesitate in taking action against those responsible.
"This may seem to be a few minutes of excitement and fun to those responsible but they are risking lives and their actions could result in a prison sentence."
Patrols are now paying particular attention to bridges in the area following the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
