Sittingbourne players have snubbed advances from new Whitstable boss Will Graham.

Rookie Graham, who has succeeded Jim and Danny Ward, wasted no time contacting members of Nick Davis’ squad.

But unlike last summer, when several Sittingbourne players made the move to Whitstable, there will be no exodus.

Boss Davis said: “Will Graham’s been on to a lot of the players to try and get them down to Whitstable but they’re staying put. They can see we’re building something here.

“No one’s under contract so he’s free to approach whoever he wants but it’s nice to know people want to stay.

“We want to keep the side together. You look at any club who do well and they’ve had the same players for years.”

Davis was given his playing budget at a meeting with secretary John Pitts last week. Top of his list is a creative midfielder.

He added: “We’ve put money aside for a midfielder who can get his foot on the ball and make things happen. It’s not an easy position to fill and whoever we bring in will be one of the top earners.”
