Boss Chris Lynch hopes Sittingbourne’s recent arrivals will help them ahead of a crucial month.

The Brickies face some of the top Isthmian South East Division sides over the coming weeks and experienced reinforcements have been added.

Attack-minded midfielder Ainsley Everett has joined from Sevenoaks, his arrival coming shortly after former Arsenal junior Nigel Neita joined the ranks.

Neita, who has played for Met Police, VCD and Dulwich among others, made his first start in the 1-0 home defeat to Whyteleafe last weekend and Lynch is glad to have that added experience in the squad.

He said: “For me Nigel brings experience and a cool head to the dressing room.

“Up until now we’ve gone very youthful during the season and the young lads have done well but if we want to be around the play-off group we have to have experience; people who can slow the game down when it’s needed.

“Nigel is someone who can hold the ball up, retain possession and regain it and that experience will help us through the last few months of the season and help with our push.

"He has great feet, great communication and is a big character for us in the changing room.

“It was nice to see that in his first game against Whitehawk he came off the bench and immediately started talking to the players around him and we’ve not had that kind of experience around before. He has got the ability as well to do well.”

Everett is the latest to join and was expected to play a part in Tuesday's game against Haywards Heath but it was postponed due a waterlogged pitch.

Lynch said: “He has been in and around the leagues for a few years but it hasn’t worked out for him this season.

"He brings a bit more experience. He is 22, 23, but that’s older than the lads we have been bringing in previously, who have been 19 or 20. We felt we needed to add experience to the dressing room and that’s what we’ve done.”

Josh Oliver and Harry Taylor have both left the club.

The Brickies boss said: “They have decided to move on to pursue first-team opportunities. Both are good young lads and both have a future and I am sure they will go and do well. They want to play as many minutes as possible.”

A busy month starts on Saturday with a trip to Guernsey.

Sittingbourne are also due to play away to leaders Hastings United, they have second-placed Ashford United at home while third-placed Whitehawk are also on the horizon, along with play-off chasers Sevenoaks.

Lynch said: “We’ve got some big games coming up and the month may well decide whereabouts we’re likely to end up.

“We’ve just got to try and win as many games as we can now but this is a make or break month for us, with some top sides to play.”

Enoch Adjei has picked up a knock, suffering a groin injury which is set to keep him out for three or four weeks.
