Sittingbourne chairman Maurice Dunk says they could have the best facilities in the county if a new stadium goes ahead.

The Brickies are in line to benefit from Quinn Estates’ plans to build thousands of houses on farmland near the Kent Science Park.

Proposals for Highsted Park include a new ground - capacity to be confirmed - for the Isthmian League club, who have been playing at Woodstock since moving out of Bourne Park in 2013.

Brickies chairman Dunk said: “After 17 years of discussion about a potential development, the current group has put in a planning application.

“If successful, with two all-weather pitches and three grass ones, our new stadium and complex could be the best in the county.

“Quinn Estates continue to sponsor and support us as well, which is fantastic news.”

Meanwhile, Sittingbourne have announced a two-year sponsorship deal that will see their Woodstock ground renamed the Jarmans Solicitors Stadium.

Dunk added: “After nine years of my personal involvement with the club, we are finally seeing major prestigious organisations support us.

“Having worked in the legal profession for the last 36 years, it is fantastic to know we are getting high-calibre sponsors that would only join us if they thought we are worthy of the investment and go about things in the right kind of way.

“So we now have a major developer and a major law firm backing us.

“Our playing budget has improved every season and this season we have signed, and will be signing, some very good new players.

“Players we hope will stick with us through this next very exciting period.

“The committee and team management are looking forward to the coming season more than ever and are working their socks off to get it right.”
