Shane 'Shakey' Byrne will be looking to return to the top of the podium when the British Superbike Championship resumes this weekend.

The Sittingbourne racer has won three of the opening four races of the championship but finished second last time out.

After a five-week break, the superbikes are back in action at Snetterton.

“I can’t wait to get going again,” said Byrne, who was edged into second spot in the previous race at Oulton Park, losing to Josh Brookes by just 0.118 seconds.

“I’m never happy to finish second but I’ve taken a great deal of positivity from the Oulton Park weekend.

“My bike was great and pole time was real fast. I won the first race, our times in race two were super fast and consistent.

“And, finally, we ran Yamaha – who have dominated there recently – so close and almost had another double. Forme that was a massive weekend.

“I was gutted we got such a big break as I’m enjoying the season so far.”
