Manager Nick Davis will move into the transfer market to keep Sittingbourne’s season alive.

Back-to-back defeats have halted Brickies’ unlikely Ryman League Division 1 South play-off charge.

They’ve slipped to 10th place – seven points off the top five – but Davis doesn’t want his side to fall away without a fight.

They go to Swale rivals Faversham on Boxing Day (3pm) and should have new faces in place.

Davis decided to act after a poor performance in a 1-0 defeat by Chipstead on Saturday.

He said: “It’s not panic stations – we’ve still done exceptionally well – but that performance wasn’t acceptable and we’re going to bring in a couple of new players for the Christmas period to freshen things up.

"Hopefully, we’ve got a centre-half and a centre-forward coming in. We’re still only seven points off the play-offs and I don’t want us to waste this opportunity.

“If we can get one or two in, it will add competition for places. One or two could be dropped, although I could drop every player from Saturday.”

It’s normally the Lilywhites fighting for the play-offs but Ray Turner’s side are off the pace in 14th.

Davis said: “I don’t know what’s happened at Faversham this season. They’ve had a turnaround of players, the old guard have gone, they’ve gone a bit younger and it can take time to get it right.”
