Sittingbourne bid to beat Ramsgate a week after helping them out in the FA Cup.

Rams upset higher-league Gosport Borough 3-2 on Saturday to reach the third qualifying round for the first time since 2005.

Brickies lost to Gosport in the previous round and manager Aslan Odev was happy to share information with Lloyd Blackman, his opposite number at Ramsgate.

The two managers meet this Saturday (3pm) when Sittingbourne host Blackman's side in Bostik South East.

Odev said: "Lloyd did ask about Gosport and I was as honest as I could be.

"I tried to help out as much as I can - there was no reason not to - and I'm sure Ramsgate will return the favour later on.

"All the managers know each other.

"We're really happy for Ramsgate to go through and be representing the league.

"Lloyd's doing a good job there.

"He had a young team last year and similar this year. He's trying to build something.

"They've got the FA Cup but this is still an important game on Saturday and I'm sure they will be giving everything."

Sittingbourne drew 1-1 at Ashford last night (Tuesday), two days on from their 2-1 win at Guernsey.

Tom Loynes scored both goals against the Channel Islanders, proving his worth a couple of weeks after being dropped to the bench.

Odev said: "Tom was absolutely outstanding. He's been fighting for his place where we have such good competition for wingers.

"He's taken it by the scruff of the neck and that's testament to his hard work and his commitment.

"We left him out against Gosport a couple of weeks ago.

"I've got a really good working relationship with him and he was fine.

"No player is untouchable or permanently on the teamsheet and he understands that."
