Sittingbourne boss Nick Davis is hoping their new goalkeeper has found a place to call home.

Teenager Jordan Carey has already notched up several clubs, including Sheppey and Dartford this season.

He joins the Brickies from Cray and replaces Darren Hawkes.

Davis said: “Jordan came in on Saturday and looked good, commanding his box, coming for crosses and giving the back four confidence. He swept up well.

“He would be the first to admit that he needs to settle somewhere.

“He played well on Saturday, made a couple of good saves and fitted into the changing room well.”

Hawkes had been first-choice with the Brickies but missed too many games for Davis’ liking. It meant back-up keeper Harry Brooks being used on a frequent basis.

Davis said: “Harry Brooks has been good in goal, playing in some important games, as Darren couldn’t commit because of work and a couple of other reasons.

“(His departure is) best for both in the end because of his commitments. He did well but we have to look at the team and what’s best for us. Commitment is a huge part.”

Bourne lost 3-2 to Wingate & Finchley in the Velocity Trophy on Tuesday night and will be back in Bostik League action at East Grinstead Town on Saturday.

They have little time to rest between now and the new year and Davis is hoping to bolster his squad for the tough schedule.

He said: “I am looking to bring one or two more in. Hopefully, I will have another player in place for Saturday and one the week after.

“We need to have strength in depth so we can cover for the demands that are ahead of us.”
